Here are testimonials mentioning personal impacts, inspiration, introspection, and sincere thank you’s in regard to David as a person and his writings, including his first book Stones Winds and Life. Bob Fassl Paintings and drawings Dear David; I wanted to let you know that your collection of poems and stories, "Stones, Winds and Life," moved my wife and I. From one page to the next, your thoughts gave a voice to an overall way-of-life which we’ve held so dear: optimism, and the identification of the "silver linings" within everything, however seemingly negative. Trying to cope within the framework that is our modern, technological society all-the-while retaining focus upon the aspects of life that are truly important; feeding our souls as much as we fulfill our other hungers; realizing the futility and self-defeating nature of striving for the material . . . it was heart warming to hear these lessons of living put so simply and eloquently. You have reminded us of how truly important it is to retain that "child within the parent it came" and embrace the virtues of innocence and wonder. Growing- up and growing describe two very different things to me . . . I’ve always preferred to grow, just not necessarily "up." Thanks again for reminding us to look beyond "society’s mold!" Warmest Regards; Bob Fassl BobFassl.com Cordell H. Bahn, M.D. Re: "Stones, Winds and Life" by David Sweet From dark corners of death, steel and despair, in the No Man’s Land of "Generals and Pawns" to the joyful sneezes-yes, sneezes- of "Missiles," David Sweet’s beautiful collection is about love and the places I’ve never thought to look for it. "Clues" and "Welcome Back To Ego World!" just won’t leave me alone! Cordell Bahn Tacoma, WA David Sweet’s book, "Stone, Winds and Life," is a unique, thought-provoking collection of work. The variety of writings and topics makes you curious to find what is on the next turning of the page. The following are a few selections that particularly stood out to me: In "Last Call," I like how David chooses of a very routine act of nature, such as falling of the leaves in autumn, and explores it, finding a way to meaningfully apply it to your life. "Clues" is a proverbial poem that explores man’s soul, nature, and the idea of seeking truth. It left me with a smile on my face. "Fortunes" also lends itself to a proverbial style. I enjoy the pictures David paints as he encourages us through this poem, to take one day at a time . . . that life’s riches and fortunes are not necessarily those things that are tangible. Tom Nemec, owner Tom's West Side Automotive, Tacoma. WA Dear David -- Opening your book after having not read it for sometime, I was pleased to find its power and wisdom still very captivating. My favorite poems, just to name a few, are "Thought Forms," "Life is on Time," "Dirty Feast," "In the Moment," "Masks," and "Let the Children Be." There is an energy that is present through out the book, however, those poems speak of truth and life. They are about the lessons I strive to learn and keep close at heart daily. It has always seemed important to listen in life for those little "nuggets" of wisdom -- in fact, I often search for them. I am more than impressed to find the source of such nuggets to be within arms distance. Thank you for sharing your heart and mind with us. Sincerely, Krista Hitz Tacoma, WA “Magic happens when the brushwork redefines the function of the canvas beyond mere subject matter. Each time I open it and read from his book, it seems to relate to what ever it is that's parallel to my life at that moment. David truly has a way of capturing words that open the eyesight of the mind, spirit. Eileen Christiansen Hair stylist, Permanent Make-up, Tattoo and Sketch Artist Tacoma, WA Hi David, It's so difficult for me to write a review of a book because I've never done one before. So, here goes. Stones Winds and Life is not your ordinary book. The kaleidoscope known as David Sweet shines brilliantly in this ever diverse gathering of his poems, plays, short stories, and tales. Each new poem or story brings a new pattern of thoughts, words, colors, images, rhythms to transport you to another world. Cowboys, pollen, Kings, trees, horses, a lake, and more are all arranged into new patterns that only David can imagine, bring to life, and share with us. How's that? Love, K Kathy Wilson Anderson Hi David, It was so nice to talk with you yesterday. You have a really wonderful way of approaching things. Cheers, Chanda Spalding www.lithtexnw.com 360-676-1977 To those who want to know, I keep David Sweet's book “Stones” handy. Lisa Stokke Dec 2019 Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I have forgotten to get in touch with you about the poem for Sierra!!! She was so incredibly appreciative and loved the poem. She even put it up on her wall. I took a picture to show you. Her eyes lit up and she told me it really inspired her and she loved it and looked forward to reading it again and again. I have so many friends fighting for their health and lives right now, I feel overwhelmed and am losing track of things. I’m sorry it took me so long to tell you how much Sierra loved the poem. I hope you have a fabulous day. Thank you again !!!!! So appreciative. Happy Holidays ; ) I always look forward to my visits with David. Always inspiring, warm, and dear to me. What a friend! • Business Strategies | Edge of Courage

In a world overflowing with noise, the most impactful voices are often the ones that speak with intention. The message above is a reminder that our words are more than sounds — they are instruments that shape connection, clarity, and consequence. “I think before I speak” calls us back to mindfulness. It challenges us to pause long enough to understand not only what we’re saying, but why we’re saying it. Thoughtful communication isn’t about hesitation — it’s about purpose. “I speak the heart of it” encourages honesty without excess. When we strip away pretense and get to the essence of what matters, our words land with authenticity. People don’t remember rambling; they remember truth delivered simply and directly. “Anything you can name you can limit” reminds us that labels create boundaries. When we define something too quickly, we shrink its possibilities. This line invites us to speak with awareness, knowing that naming can empower — but also confine. And finally: “How will what I say affect someone in the next five minutes?” It’s a question that brings everything into focus. Our words have immediate impact. They can lift or wound, open or close, connect or divide. When we hold this question before speaking, we shift from reaction to responsibility. This short passage is more than advice — it’s a communication philosophy. A practice. A discipline. A reminder that every conversation is a chance to shape the world around us with clarity, compassion, and care. PURPOSE, PROCESS, PAYOFF A ND SUCCESS! *

  • Client Wins | Edge of Courage

CLIENT WINS I always look forward to my visits with David, always inspiring, interesting and warm and dear to me. What will he do next? Dear David, Just a short note to voice my appreciation and make some observations about the Marketing Consulting you provided me. As I am a graduate of both the Phil Broyles Top-producer System and the Xerox Sales training I can honestly say you provided a unique approach to my business. Your emphasis on the "building of credibility" from outside sources, target marketing and the help in managing and training my assistant was invaluable. I feel your ongoing input as a both client and a consultant was one of the reasons I reached the Associate Vice President Title last year. Your extensive experience in marketing and as a business owner was evident in your good ideas which have influenced my success. I am this year focusing on the markets you outlined and look for another 40% jump in revenue and assets next year. Backstory The gold was already there. A successful person, however, like all of us once in a while, there comes a time to get a fresh look over the landscape and a bit of introspection: pathfinding, clarifying, and facilitating. Inner growth. Dear Mr. Sweet, I’m writing this letter to thank you for the time you spent with me this spring. As you remember, I was faced with a number of tough choices as to what direction I should take my real estate business. Your review of my choices proved to be very insightful and now looking back proved to be very helpful in choosing the right path of action. Sometimes we are just too close to the issues and it helps to have someone who can look everything over and give you a fresh look especially at things you hadn’t considered. Because of your review and recommendations, I now have 3 new contracts to develop real estate both in Washington state and most recently in New Hampshire. Thanks again. Backstory Business owner, real estate broker facing management decisions not unlike those any owner comes up against. Production up, mission accomplished: Lynn Di Nino, Artist July 18th, 2011 Dear prospective client of David Sweet, In 2007 I approached David for help regarding my art business. Although I’d been a professional artist earning a living by commissions and gallery work for over 30 years, the work had dried up and I needed guidance from someone I’d heard had a good reputation. We met twice, first in order to establish my vision for what I needed to accomplish and to acknowledge my skill set for a possible career shift, and then for the practical hammering out of new direction. David helped me focus on steps to create a slightly different approach. He was insightful, knowledgeable, creative and efficient. I really appreciated his balance of listening and suggestions of options. I needed his outside perspective and for an independent person like me he approached my challenges with exactly the right tone. I recommend him! Sincerely, Lynn Di Nino Backstory: Lynn Di Nino Telling Lynn Di Nino that anything could not be accomplished would be like trying to block out the sun. Coming to Tacoma in 2001, she has been a tour de force in the growth of the art community and public awareness. Lynn has been directly responsible for creating, organizing, and facilitating more than a few city-wide events for the benefit of the arts, participants, and onlookers—a good time had by all! Her creativity never stops!
